Mission
The Student Health and Wellness Center is committed to providing excellent healthcare to our students. Student success, development, and preparation for global citizenship is dependent on the many facets of good health. Mindful of our diverse population we promote responsible personal health choices to enhance each individual's lifelong health and well being.
Within our purpose we support the mission of the University to ensure service and quality in teaching performance, public service and outreach.
Access
Students enrolled in the current semester who have paid the medical service fee are eligible for services at the SHWC.
Medical visits are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call (940) 565-2333. A student ID card is required at check-in. Students with University-endorsed insurance should bring their insurance card as well. Click here for more information on hours, location and parking, or pricing.
Staff
Our professional staff includes licensed physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, certified lab technologists, radiology technician, pharmacists, health and substance abuse educators, social workers, administrative, business, and medical records personnel. Part time staff includes psychiatrists, registered dietitian, and a massage therapist.
Medical Services
Our licensed medical and support staff provides primary health care and additional services, including but not limited to:
- Urgent care for accidental injury
- Basic diagnostic x-rays
- Women's care exams and education
- Psychiatric assessment (with referral)
- Nutritional consultation
- Flu shot clinics
- Immunizations (including Meningitis)
- Behavioral medicine
- Pharmacy
- Laboratory testing
- Allergy injections

Please be aware when requesting a prescription refill that it may take up to 48 hours to fill that request.
Patient Privacy and Confidentiality
The Student Health and Wellness Center is compliant with HIPPA and other state and federal law. Our staff takes all possible steps to protect the privacy and confidentiality of patients' Protected Health Information. For more information, click here.
Billing and Insurance
The medical visit is free but the SHWC offers competitive pricing on ancillary services such as pharmacy, lab work and x-ray. Payment is expected at the time of service and may be made by cash, check, or by credit card (AMEX, Discover, Mastercard, or Visa).
As an extension of our customer service, the SHWC files medical insurance claims for the University endorsed student insurance policy underwritten by United Healthcare Student Resources.

Substance Abuse Resource Center
The Substance Abuse Resource Center is the recipient of the AAA Drinking and Driving Prevention Award (2006) and the NCAA Choices Grant for Alcohol Education (2007). The SARC provides education & intervention, workshops, presentations, support groups, and internships. Information about services and programs can be found here.
